Our Founder

Dr. George Syrmalis is trained in nuclear medicine-radiation immunology.

With more than 20 years’ experience in bioscience research and innovation, Dr Syrmalis knew that to create the medicines of tomorrow, he had to design a new kind of enterprise. 

In 2010, Dr. Syrmalis founded The iQ Group Global to converge investment banking, scientific discovery, corporate advisory and commercialization to bring medical innovations to the world. The iQ Group Global Ltd. (formerly iQnovate) was established in 2011.

As CEO, Dr. Syrmalis creates the vision and the pathway to strengthen the long-term sustainability of our company, and accelerate our company’s growth at higher rates than that of the global market. He empowers The Group’s team of experts to take risks and look at the same challenge through their own divergent perspectives.

Dr. Syrmalis is a member of the American Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians, the American College of Nuclear Physicians, the American College of Nuclear Medicine and the New York Academy of Sciences.

Dr. Jonathan Arambula is the Vice President of Research at OncoTEX Inc. and the co-inventor of TEX Core, a novel oncology platform that is able to develop range of well-tolerated, MRI-detectable cancer therapeutics that target drug-sensitive and drug-resistant solid tumors. The first cancer therapy in development is OxaliTEX, indicated for ovarian cancer.

Dr. Arambula brings decades of experience in oncology research and therapeutics to The iQ Group Global team. He joins The iQ Group Global from the  University of Texas at Austin, where he served as a Research Associate and Lecturer focused on the discovery of novel cancer therapeutics in the Department of Chemistry. Prior to that, Dr. Arambula was an assistant professor of Biochemistry at Georgia Southern University. He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and served as an American Cancer Society Postdoctoral Fellow at both the University of Texas at Austin and MD Anderson Cancer Center.

As Chief Scientific Officer, Athena leads the Clinical Research Corporation (CRC) technical team to develop and implement medical affairs solutions for life science companies. Athena manages the delivery of a diverse range of projects for clients on a daily basis, including evidence generation to show therapy value, market research, product safety monitoring, marketing and medical science liaison to support therapy uptake.
 
A practising pharmacist with Master Degrees in Public Health, Commerce and Communications, Athena has 25 years’ healthcare industry experience developing and implementing medical-marketing strategies, delivering outcomes that maximise business growth.

Alex is The iQ Group Global’s Vice President of Investor Relations, based in New York. Alex drives investor market analysis with the aim of strengthening the investor relations platform, as well as enforcing outreach for The Groups listed companies. 

Having attained his Bachelor’s Degree from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania and an MBA from IAE Universidad Austral in Argentina, Alex holds a plethora of international industry knowledge which he continues to apply in the biotechnology space. In addition to this, Alex has more than 12 years’ experience in investor relations and communications. Alex assures the ability to interact with a myriad of shareholders by effectively managing their needs.

Alex is particularly passionate about the healthcare sector, seeing it as an evergreen opportunity to make real-world difference.

Lei holds an MBA from AGSM and is a Fellow Member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Lei previously serviced as Director, APAC and Director, Structured Investment Products, for The iQ Group Global.

Parisa is particularly passionate about bridging the gap between science and business through educating investors about the drug development lifecycle, and the essential role early stage biotechnology plays in creating the medicines of tomorrow.

Parisa holds a PhD in Biotechnology from the Queensland University of Technology, and completed a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and a post graduate diploma in Marketing and Management.
